Why therapy?
Every person can use help along the way. We naturally provide and seek support from friends and family during challenging experiences. But sometimes we need more than they, or we, can provide.
Still in our country, and in our cultures, therapy has a stigma for many, if not most people. Seeking a therapist is not the first step in change. It takes courage to acknowledge that you need extra help; let alone to start the daunting process of finding a professional. I believe the key to therapy is in building a trusting relationship with your clinician. Therapy cannot be forced, and you must be able to relate to and trust the person if you are going to open up; share challenging issues and be receptive to their input. I try to build such a relationship by being the person I present myself as; listening without judgement and doing my very best to understand you and your experiences. |
MY THERAPEUTIC PHILOSOPHY
I believe that my clients are the experts of themselves and their families. I am client-centered, strengths-based and solution-focused. My intention is to join with you to assist you on your journey to greater understand yourself and your relationships. I believe that my job is to listen without judgement and to do my best to understand how your mind operates (why you do what you do) to help you move towards the goal(s) that you identify to heal yourself, your relationships, and/or overcome barriers that you are aware of (or not) that have led to this point. |
