Degree and Experience
I received my Masters degree in Social Work at Arizona State University. I worked in Seattle from 2015 to 2018 as an Intensive In-Home Child and Family Therapist for the Institute for Family Development's Homebuilders program. From 2009 to 2015, I worked for Providence Service Corporation, a Community Mental Health Center in Tucson, Arizona, as an ongoing Child, Family, and Group Therapist for children and adolescents from ages three to twenty-one. From 2001 to 2015, I volunteered in the field of grief and loss as a group facilitator for children and adolescents ages three to eighteen years-old. I have been Reiki 1 certified in the Usui school since 2002, have been a Hospice volunteer, and worked for Americorps as a Team Leader creating and implementing service learning projects for teens. I am licensed in the State of Washington as a Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and a licensed Mental Health Professional (MHP): Child Mental Health Specialist, as well as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Arizona.
THe road to becoming a therapist
I grew up in Arizona and received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Arizona with an Interdisciplinary Studies major. This program consisted of three minors making up one major. I selected my three main interests at the time: Psychology, Philosophy and Figure Sculpture. During my undergraduate years, I discovered energy and energy healing through psychology courses; created and conducted energy research studies with Dr Eric Pearl (The Reconnection) that were supervised by Dr Gary Schwartz (The Living Energy Universe) and through the Parapsychology department at the University of Edinburgh. During my undergraduate years, I became Reiki I certified, and continued to practice energy work for many years in Tucson, Arizona.
After I completed my BA, I moved to Carrara, Italy where I followed my dream to learn how to sculpt marble. I lived there for nine and half months, and was basically an apprentice under the guidance of Lucio Carrusi. Sculpting marble was my first passion, and very hard to give up.
When I returned to the United States, I took several years off from school until I identified my second passion: having meaningful conversations with people; particularly children. I discovered that I wanted to be a therapist after volunteering for many years with children in grief and loss support groups through a non-profit called Tu Nidito.
